Cities, borders, distances, non-traded goods and purchasing power parity
Article Abstract:
Studies on long-run Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) in industrialized nations show that the relationship is not exhibited in the post Breton-Woods period. The causes of the failure of PPP in such situations is evaluated by using disaggregated price data. The studies of Rogers and jenkins (1995) and Johnson (1991) are furthered by continuing the disaggregation of price data to another level. Price data is broken down not just into different kinds of goods, but into cities within countries as well. Results reveal that country borders and distances do affect PPP but the effects of the types of goods is not as strongly established.

Price and quantity responses to cost and demand shocks
Article Abstract:
The increased variations in production and inventory levels instead of prices after the occurrence of cost and demand shocks during periods of inflexible prices were investigated. Specifically, the problem, which was confirmed by data observations, was viewed from two perspectives to find out which is true. The first holds that response selectivity to demand shocks exists while the second pertains to the occurrence of price smoothing.
