The jigsaw puzzle of policy and dynamics: who can put the pieces together?
Article Abstract:
The failure of the chipcard to gain acceptance in The Netherlands demonstrate the difficulties of implementing and planning economic policy and their relationship with dynamic efficiency. Technological innovations, as exemplified by the chipcard in terms of financial transactions, should theoretically lower costs and improve flexibility. However, inherent problems in the chipcard's introduction, such as network externalities, are likely to hinder market penetration.

Statistical discrimination in the labour market: an efficient vice?
Article Abstract:
An analysis of statistical discrimination use in the labor market reveals that there is no firm basis supporting the efficiency of statistical discrimination and that the common interpretation of the decomposition of wage differentials is questionable. The study considers some of the most significant statistical discrimination models to determine whether there is an uncomfortable trade-off between equality and efficiency.
