Contract responsibility systems and productive efficiency: a case study on state-owned enterprises in China
Article Abstract:
The effects of various management systems on the productive efficiency of government-owned enterprises in China were studied based on data from 1984-1988 of 57 state-owned firms belonging to the machinery industry. Of the various reform systems, the Double-Contracting Single-Linkage System and the Other Contract Responsibility System were observed to be the most effective in improving productive efficiency. An investigation on the characteristics responsible for the efficiency improvement indicated the targets-oriented systems to be the best.

Large shareholders, private benefits of control, and optimal schemes of privatization
Article Abstract:
Optimal privatization schemes need to consider the number of shares to be sold in order to make privatization of government-controlled companies successful. Such a step increases the likelihood of an efficient winning bidder since the highest bidder may not always be the ideal company for the government-controlled entity. It also helps the government optimize earnings resulting from the auction of a government-controlled firm.

Optimal law enforcement and victim precaution
Article Abstract:
A model is constructed to study public law enforcement whenever victim precaution is exercised. Victim precaution refer to the acts made by the victim to avoid or minimize injury. The model is applied to both intentional and unintentional violations. The results indicate a more effective victim precaution in intentional violation cases. However, victim precaution is insignificant in unintentional offenses.
