Corporate strategy and the environment
Article Abstract:
The environmental movement should be viewed as an opportunity, rather than a threat, by corporations. Firms that tackle the environmental challenge early will have a new area for competitive advantage. This implies the adoption of a strategic approach, the implications of which for the organization are wide-ranging. The company has to set a new mission, realign the corporate value system and alter behavior throughout the organization.

Strategic planning for pollution reduction
Article Abstract:
A step-by-step guide on how to incorporate pollution reduction in the business planning process is prescribed. Two basic strategic options are identified for firms in their pollution reduction efforts. These are minimizing waste or shifting to other non-polluting business areas. The chemical giant DuPont's efforts to develop alternatives to chlorofluorocarbons is cited as an example of the second approach.
