Determinants of Bilateral Trade Protection
Article Abstract:
Three bilateral factors are identified that impact bilateral protection levels. These are a trade partner's penetration of goods into the domestic market, a trade partner's domestic goods protection level, and intra-industry traded shares of a trade partner's imports. Policy-makers are found to act on goals of political economy instead of economic goals.
