Discrepancies in international data: an application to China-Hong Kong entrepot trade
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze discrepancies in trade deficits reported by countries and the work that needs to be carried out to resolve such discrepancies in international trade data resulting from transshipment through entrepot countries. The impact of bilateral trade deficit on microeconomic competitiveness and macroeconomic imbalance was examined. Results indicated the need for more accurate measures of international trade to account for trade through entrepot countries.

Accounting for growth with new inputs: theory and evidence
Article Abstract:
The creation of new inputs under conditions of monopolistic competition could lead to gains in productivity. A model that generates continuous economic growth through the creation of new inputs appears to be useful. The model can produce a decomposition of growth for a constant-elasticity-of-substitution production function. An application of the model to Korean industry shows that new inputs are a key factor in the growth of productivity.
