East Asian liberalization, bubbles, and the challenge from China
Article Abstract:
The main expediters of the economic growth experienced by East Asia include the region's embrace of liberal economic policies, which had allowed huge capital investments to flow into the region, and China's emergence into global trade. China's entry and growing influence on the region, however, are feared to result in political conflict. China's membership into the World Trade Organization could protect everybody's interest as conflicts could be multilaterally discussed.

China's emergence and prospects as a trading nation
Article Abstract:
Statistics show that China may emerge as a trading nation. China's ratio of foreign trade to GDP increased from 17% in 1974 to 44% in 1994 and its share in global exports increased from 0.75% in 1978 to 3% in 1995. However, China's export growth may become stagnant because its success had depended on the rapid domestic structural change and economic reforms, effects of which could diminish extensively in the future.

The growth of nations
Article Abstract:
An examination of long-run economic growth reveals that the accumulation of capital seems to be the key to increased growth rate. Political stability would raise growth as well as attract domestic and international investments. The government should also take an active part in the redirection of financial resources by directing capital which yield sizable positive externalities.
