Economic crime in Russia
Article Abstract:
This article examines the threat created by economic crimes to the formation and success of socioeconomic reforms in Russia, due to the growth of criminal encroachment, the increase in social danger and the establishment of criminal organizations operating within the economy. The author uses criminal statisitcs to illustrate the growth in these trends, focusing on crimes with an economic thrust; the growth rate of crimes such as swindling, bribery, and in such areas as foreign economic activity, consumer markets and credit and financial systems are all discussed, as is the privatization process being an area of criminal interest.
