Novartis launches grassroots education
Article Abstract:
Novartis Seeds has developed a presentation kit that hopes explain the importance, safety and science behind biotechncology. Entitled 'A Short Course on Biotechnology, the consumer educational presentation was launched in Jan 2000, as part of the National Biotechnology Month. Novartis, which used specific examples for the kit, is encouraging all memberes of the industry to make use of the presentation material in discussing the merits of biotechnology.

Electronic commerce to take agri-marketing into 21st century
Article Abstract:
RAPID Inc is developing an electronic commerce system for the agricultural industry. The system is composed of five main components: barcodes and other standards, electronic data interchange, a North American Purchaser Directory of farmers and ranchers, an Allied Directory of manufacturers, distributors and retailers, and product directory. RAPID is aiming to have barcodes on all packaged crop protection products by 1999.

Agriculture on the silver screen

Agricultural marketers may find it worth the expenditure to place their products in major motion pictures. Agri-marketers agree that logo or product placement in major films can yield good PR or even drive up sales. Experts say it is difficult, if not outright impossible to quantify the impact of product placement in movies. Enhanced brand equity, however, can be a sufficient return on invesment.
