Evidence from patents and patent citations on the impact of NASA and other federal labs on commercial innovation
Article Abstract:
An empirical study examined the influence of NASA and other federal laboratories on commercial innovation by investigating patents and patent citations of NASA and other federal labs. Findings revealed that the patenting rate of NASA and other federal agencies increased anew in the 1980s as the commercialization of these federal labs was rejuvenated. Evidence of technology spillovers were observed from this case study.
