Explaining clustering in social networks: towards an evolutionary theory of cascading benefits
Article Abstract:
Peculiar features of social networks, such as clustering and cascading benefits are explained, in the light of evolutionary psychological principles. An evolutionary psychological foundation of network theory, another prominent theoretical perspective which relies on the model of the unitary and singular actor, reducing all actors (individual and corporate) to 'nodes' characterized only by their network connections, is presented. Challenges of clustering are also presented.
