Foreign direct investment and macroeconomic risk
Article Abstract:
Surveys of actvities of US multinationals for 1989, 1994, and 1999 were used in investigating the implications of macroeconomic risks, such as supply, demand and sovereign risks, on foreign direct investment (FDI). It was observed that macroeconomic risks discourage FDI activities more in developing countries compared to industrial nations. The factors that attract FDI to developing countries such as flourishing natural resources, lower cost of labor and consumer potentials, are discussed.
