Bahrain: law on International Commercial Arbitration Center amended
Article Abstract:
Law No. 9 of 1993, otherwise known as the Bahrain International Commercial Arbitration Center Law has been amended. The amendments are on the provisions on the Center's legal character, on the number of the Arbitration Council members and on the privileges and immunities enjoyed by the Council members. The Legislative Decree No. 17 of 1996, which became effective in June 12, 1996, promulgated the amendments.

Oman to join N.Y. Convention
Article Abstract:
The government of the Sultanate of Oman has approved the accession of the country into the United Nations Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards or the New York Convention. Oman's accession to the N.Y. Convention is a significant step for the country in its efforts to join the global economy, and significantly increases the viability of Oman for foreign investments.
