Income ranking and convergence with physical and human capital and income inequality

Article Abstract:

An overlapping generations model which shows that income inequality impedes output growth by directly harming capital accumulation and indirectly raising the ratio of physical to human capital is described. The model is characterized by income inequality originating from innate ability, and endogenous accumulations of physical and human capital, in the presence of spillovers from average human capital.

Long-run effects of unfunded social security with earnings-dependent benefits

Article Abstract:

The effects of unfunded and social security with bequests, fertility and human capital are examined by considering a mix of earnings-dependent and universal social security benefits. Simulations showed that the differences in the effects of social security resulting from variations in the benefit formula should not be ignored.
