Indian foods
Article Abstract:
Indian foods have continued to grow in popularity with UK consumers during the five years to 1998. The retail sector grew by 61% during that period and, despite threats from other spicy ethnic foods, its place in food retailing appears secure. The growing demand for convenience foods augments the market for Indian ready meals, and suppliers are increasingly including products like naan bread to meet the demand for meals in the takeaway style. Suppliers have also introduced a wider variety of flavours. Major players include Patak's and JA Sharwood's, but own-label products are important.
