Inflation, unemployment and the NAIRU in Australia
Article Abstract:
Developing a model based on the interrelationship between Australia's unemployment and inflation is problematic. Accurately estimating the non-accelerating inflation rate of unemployment (NAIRU) is difficult, and unemployment deviations in a NAIRU may not impact inflation as much as changes in unemployment alone. Therefore, inflation equations are likely to be insufficient in predicting the rate of unemployment.
