Labour migration to Hong Kong
Article Abstract:
Immigration in Hong Kong mainly revolves around flow from China and the flow of contract labor. Hong Kong responds to labor shortage by emphasizing capital-intensive activities and migrating labor-intensive activities to other countries. It poses no restrictions on the inflow of highly skilled and professional labor, but the employers are levied once the proposal to import labor is sanctioned by the government. Hong Kong faces the problem of illegal migrants due to economic development. The labor importation scheme to import people with skill will help in the transition through 1997.

Labour migration of China
Article Abstract:
China is increasingly facing the problem of illegal emigrants and brain drain into North America and Europe. It has severe problems regarding the shortage of middle-age professors and researchers as two-thirds of the students have settled abroad. This resulted in restriction of emigration only to government-organized labor exports. Further, China is witnessing an increasing trend in internal migration that has given rise to numerous social and economic problems. The Chinese government is trying to find ways to deal with internal interregional migration effectively.
