The Internet's introduction has allowed business partners to closely work together, opened up communication within companies, and linked manufacturers and distributors to their customers. Furthermore, companies through the Internet can reach customers outside their regions. Many companies are trying to exploit this new innovation but face problems of the size and performance of their server. They also question the amount of business they can attract through the web pages.

This technology allows companies to distribute their information simultaneously, easily, and cheaply across their organization. Zona Research predicts that in 1998, the Intranet market will grow to $8 bil annually. Companies can save money by reducing staff costs and project implementation risks, lowering development expenses, and providing technical and hardware support.
