Maternal labour supply and child nutrition in West Africa
Article Abstract:
The consequences of the time constraints confronting women and their multiple roles were studied to determine the influence of maternal labor supply on the cognitive development of their children. The results underscored the detrimental effects due to the decrease in levels of childcare, although family income was augmented. The extra time spent by the mother at work was directly linked to the decrease in height-for-age of children below five years of age.

Fertility and the human capital loss of non-participation
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to investigate the earnings outcome of non-participation faced by women who occasionally withdraw from the workforce by endogenizing both the decision to interrupt and the decision to give birth. Results indicate that labor market interruptions are typically longer when explained by fertility. When potential endogeneity is ignored, a negative relationship between interruption duration and female earnings results.
