Medals in transition: explaining medal performance and inequality of Chinese provinces
Article Abstract:
Using the data from Chinese National Games during 1950s to 2001, the positive effects of the transition of Chinese economy on the performances of the sports personalities are examined. It is observed that provinces spending more on sports show better medal performances. The positive impact of increase in wealth and economic development on the medal performances is also discussed.
