It is anticipated the UK market for men's shirts will fall by 5% in real terms during 1996-2003. Demand for formal shirts is expected to decline by 20% whereas sales of casual shirts will increase by 8% between 1999-2003. Sales of men's and boy's shirts are predicted to be worth 1,420 pounds sterling in 1999, a rise in value of 7% during 1994-99. The average price of a shirt is 18.03 pounds sterling. Sales of causal shirts are expected to have increased by 12.8% between 1995-1999 whilst sales of formal shirts are predicted to fall by 11.5%. Marks and Spencer PLC sells the most shirts.
