National newspapers
Article Abstract:
Volume sales of newspapers in the UK rose by 2% in 1994 from 1993, boosted by lower prices. However, the long term trend is one of declining volume sales, and this is likely to continue. All sectors have seen declines over recent years, with the tabloid newspapers suffering particularly badly. However, readership levels of national newspapers remain high, with 57% of adults regularly reading a newspaper on weekdays.
