Nonlinear modelling using the generalized exponential family of distributions
Article Abstract:
An approach to nonlinear modeling based on the generalized exponential family of distributions was described. The flexibility of the approach was illustrated using a hypothetical time series of prices based on a model which exhibits multiple equilibria for certain time periods and a distinct equilibrium for other periods. It was shown that the distributional analogue of multiple equilibria is multimodality. The approach can model discrete jumps without requiring the identification of the timing of jumps ex post.

Taxation, Reranking and Equivalence Scales
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that the equivalence scale implicit in transfer policy that minimizes reranking is close to the tax implicit equivalence scale, although it may not necessarily be equal to it.
