Article Abstract:
The efforts by the British National Health Service (NHS) to promote privatization of cleaning, catering and laundry services in hospitals are receiving barely luke warm response. NNS employees have been known to cut costs in these areas when threatened with private sector competition. Few private companies are competing for NHS contracts. Unions maintain the government's goals, whether to cut hospital maintainence costs or to increase privatization, are unclear.

Article Abstract:
Official explanations of an air attack on the national radio station in the Sudan are analyzed. Although Sudanese President Numeiri has named the Libyans as the attackers, there is some evidence that suggests Sudanese dissidents may have made the attack. The Egyptians and Ethiopians appear to distrust the Numeiri government, and the Sudanese people are discontent with the economic recession.

United States multinationals are making offers for companies which Britain is turning over to the private sector. AT&T has made an offer for microchip producer Inmos. Private stockholders and management would prefer a stock sale through the stock market over a few years.
