OECD bribery convention
Article Abstract:
The OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions was signed on Dec 17, 1997. The convention has 34 signatories, including 29 OECD members and nonmember countries Slovak Republic, Chile, Bulgaria, Brazil and Argentina. The convention's entry into force is expected to provide strong momentum for its ratification by all other countries. One of the convention's aims is to eliminate the 'offering' side of bribery transactions.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) member nations signed on Dec 17, 1997 the Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions. It was signed by all 29 OECD members and five nonmember states, Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile and Slovakia. Amendments include that any party may suggest the amendment of the convention.
