U.A.E.: new rules for diplomatic and consular corps
Article Abstract:
The United Arab Emirate (UAE) government has introduced substantial reforms to Federal Law No. 3 of 1972, creating new standards for employing and promoting officials at the UAE Diplomatic and Consular Corp. The new legislation, slated to take effect on Mar 15, 1998, specifically prohibits officials from holding more than one office in the Corps and leasing any real estate or other similar properties that would be used in performing their tasks. The law further outlines new guidelines for determining the compensation of employees.
