Article Abstract:
An increase of 0.3% occurred in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) in March 1999, prior to seasonal adjustment, and there was also an increase of 0.2% in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W). Both Consumer Price Indexes rose 1.7% over the 12-month period that ended in March. After seasonal adjustment, the increase was 0.2% for the CPI-U and 0.1% for the CPI-W.

Article Abstract:
A decline of 0.1% occurred in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) in December 1998, prior to seasonal adjustment, while the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) showed no change. For the 12-month period since December 1997, there was an increase of 1.6% in both indexes. After seasonal adjustment, the CPI-U incrased by 0.1% and the CPI-W increased by 0.2%.
