Public and private investment: are there causal linkages?
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the causal linkage between government investment spending and private investment. Public capital stock and public sector investment spending were included as variables along with the variables specified in major private investment models, and the multivariate Granger-causality testing and Akaike's Final Prediction Error were applied to annual data from 1954-89. The results show the existence of feedback effects between private and public investment.
