Outlet stores are proving to be a viable means for communities to revitalize their downtowns, attract new businesses, generate more tax revenues and inject new vitality into local economies. Refilling small town retail space
Article Abstract:
Most small towns in the Midwestern states have witnessed the steady erosion of their downtown retail hubs over the years as shopping malls and mass merchandisers made their expansion into rural areas. In Allegan, MI, town officials decided to initiate an effort to reorganize the local economy and attract new retailers to the downtown area. A brief overview of the program is presented.
