Article Abstract:
Roger Jepsen, senator from Iowa, is in danger of losing the November election. The Republicans may lose control of the Senate if Jepsen and approximately six other Republican senators are not re-elected. Jepsen is far to the right of Republican mainline politics. Iowan senators have swung from liberals to conservatives. His Democratic opponent, though a liberal, has been re-elected from a conservative Congressional district.

Fighting in Mitabeleland has resulted in much killing. Zimbabwe has demanded that journalists submit their reports to a government censor. Foreign journalists must also submit their stories to the censors before the correspondents may send them out of the country.
