Searching for the effect of immigration on the labor market
Article Abstract:
The relationship between immigration and the labor market is examined using the area analyses and factor-proportions analyses techniques. Area estimates of data from the 1980 and 1990 Censuses of Population show varying degrees of immigration's effect on male and female earnings. On the other hand, factor-proportion analysis reveals that immigration resulted to a decrease in the relative earnings of high-school dropouts. Moreover, trade and immigration decreased the wages of high-school workers compared to college employees.

Ethnicity, neighborhoods, and human-capital externalities
Article Abstract:
The association between the influence of ethnic externality and neighborhoods on the socioeconomic performance of workers was examined. It was argued that ethnicity has an effect on human-capital accumulation since person who grow up in neighborhoods will experience similar social and economic environments. The spillover effect of ethnic skills is passed on not only from parents but also from the mean skills of an ethnic group's parental generation.
