Article Abstract:
Toolbook Version 3.0 is an authoring software offered by Asymetrix Ltd. It was designed to support the formation of computer-based learning material and may be used in teaching economics. This version improves on previous offerings by providing additional features such as a spell checker, animation capabilities and full-text search capacity. Moreover, it features multi-window applications, hyperlinks and customized graphics. However, several drawbacks are evident: slow execution, limited memory features, lack of spreadsheet and graphing capabilities and computer expertise requirement.

Macrobytes
Article Abstract:
Macrobytes is a software package that is designed to supplement a text entitled, 'Macroeconomics'. Its programs functions on IBM compatible computers and needs a mono graphics card. This software package features a self test, simulations of economic models presented in the text, a data plotter of US macro time series and a simulation game. It is recommended to be used only as a desirable accompanying tool for the textbook.

The X-12-ARIMA (Beta Version 1.1a) is a software package that allows for seasonal adjustment of time series with advantages such as improved econometrics, diagnostics and interface. Disadvantages include poor quality graphics and lack of smoothing parameters support that is crucial for seasonal adjustments. Other statistical software may be used in tandem with the Beta Version to obtain desired results.
