Static and dynamic productivity among Yugoslav enterprises: components and correlates
Article Abstract:
The static and dynamic correlates of productivity among business enterprises in Yugoslavia during 1975-1979 were examined. In addition, the effects of market share, export orientation, labour groupings, joint ventures, regional development and capital intensity on static and dynamic productivity were also investigated using Farrell measures of efficiency along with the frontier Malmquist index of productivity change. It was found that single-period industrial productivity measures do not provide concrete evidence of the performance of enterprises over time.

Spatial patterns in China's rural industrial growth and prospects for the alleviation of regional income inequality
Article Abstract:
A research on the spatial patterns of rural industrial growth in China inferred that the growth is not indicative of a solution to regional income imbalances nor does it point to better regional specialization. The patterns of rural industrialization may have satisfied rent maximization, but they are also touted to signify budget misallocation on a nationwide scale. To improve the income levels of poorer regions, it is suggested that the government lessen its control in pricing and budget allocation and instead improve infrastructure and education services.
