Technical change and human-capital returns and investments: evidence from the green revolution
Article Abstract:
Panel and time-series information representing the green-revolution period in India are utilized to determine the effects of exogenous technical change on the returns to schooling, the impact of schooling on the profitability of technical change, and the impact of technical change and school availability on household schooling investment. Findings reveal that the returns to primary schooling rose during a period of fast technical change. Such increases caused private investments in schooling, net of changes in wealth, wages, and the availability of schools.

International comparisons of the sources of economic growth
Article Abstract:
A comparative analysis of the sources of economic growth is made by deviating from the research method made by economists Simon Kuznets and Robert Solow. Solow's substitution concept is expanded by including other types of labor inputs based on demographics. Results show that investments in physical and human resources have increased real per capita production in the US. Therefore, policymakers should give emphasis to efficiency rather than employment to improve productivity.
