The Gulf countries and gas: ambitious planned projects face political and economic hurdles
Article Abstract:
The Observatoire Mediterraneen de l'Energie has made mid- and long-term projections for the Mediterranean countries which indicate significant growth in energy consumption and an even greater demand for natural gas. Many projects have been proposed to transport gas from producing regions during the mid-1980s to solve the increased demand for natural gas. A gas network in the Gulf Cooperation Council member countries and other gas schemes involving Saudi Arabia are some of these proposed projects.
