Tasked-based segmentation or rural labour contracts: theory and evidence
Article Abstract:
M. Eswaran and A. Kotwal argue that regular laborers are hired to do non-monitorable tasks. Analysis of data provided by the International Crop Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRIST), however, proves otherwise. The ICRIST study found that large employment-intensive farms are more inclined to hire regular labor indiscriminately for both non-monitorable and monitorable tasks.
