The continued emergence of the US dollar as a leading international currency is being attributed to several factors, such as similarity of inflation rates and trade integration. The United States' impressive record in terms of its steady low inflation rate and strong trade performance makes its currency attractive in dealing with international transactions. The ability of the US economy to withstand external shocks also helps in making the US dollar a leading international currency.
