Measures of agricultural support policies in transition economies: 1994-1997
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze issues associated with agricultural support in transition economies. Eight commodities were considered to represent countries' major import-competing and export products. Market-price support and government subsidies were examined. Results indicated that agricultural policy in transition economies remains unfocused and falls short based on their contribution to the competitiveness of the agricultural sector.

Specific investment, economies of scale, and the make-or-buy decision: a test of transaction cost theory
Article Abstract:
European data is used to analyze transaction cost make-or-buy theory, with empirical tests of three hypotheses developed. The impact of the economies of scope and scale are shown to be lower in the presence of certain assets, with the level of non-specific production technology shown to affect the likelihood of buying-in specialized inputs.
