The political economy of a divided Ireland
Article Abstract:
There is a need to tackle the underlying problem in Northern Ireland, which is employment inequality which affects the communities within Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland has to develop its economy if the Protestant community is not to be disadvantaged by restructuring. Public intervention is needed to help develop opportunities for Northern Ireland's Protestants, while at the same time allowing the disadvantaged community to catch up. These issues have to be tackled if the peace process is to succeed.
