The savers-spenders theory of fiscal policy
Article Abstract:
Consumer behavior is more heterogeneous than may be apparent, and this undermines assumptions in macroeconomic theory relating to fiscal policy. Bequests are a key factor in capital accumulation, while many households have zero or negative net worth, affecting consumption smoothing.
