The who, what and how of successful selling in Turkey's defense market
Article Abstract:
Turkey's armed forces are being modernized partially by spending $1.5 to $2 billion annually on imported goods and by promoting their own defense industry. The Defense Industries Support Fund has initiated $4 billion of defense projects and will have channeled $10 billion by the year 2000. These projects include integrated communications, coast guard ships, large tactical air transports and industrial development. Details of bidding procedures, local government and industrial contacts are detailed.

The registration and pledge of immovables in Kazakstan
Article Abstract:
Kazakhstan has enacted laws on the registration of land and buildings, and mortgage procedures. The Immovable Registration Edict, which became effective on Mar. 1, 1996, includes definitions of properties that constitute immovable property and establishes a legal register of immovables. The Mortgage Edict, which became effective on Jan. 1, 1996, provides a framework for obligations stated in Section 3, Chapter 18 of the Civil Code.
