This time, Joint Center finds landlord discontent
Article Abstract:
The Joint Center for Housing Studies has noted an increasing discontent among landlords regarding business in its annual report on major housing trends in 1997. In its 1997 assessment of the housing market, the Joint Center discovered that only 29% on-site owners earned profit but 59% expressed willingness to buy properties again if given the opportunity. Meanwhile, only 37% of off-site owners of smaller properties earned profit in 1997 and 40% of them would buy their properties again. Likewise, 58% of off-site owners of larger properties earned profit but 49% of them would buy properties again.

Borrower demographics
Article Abstract:
A graphical representation of data culled from the 1985, 1987 and 1989American Housing Survey is presented to illustrate the demographic concerns in the housing and mortgage markets. It reveals the income disparity between home-owning borrowers and renters and income distribution within each group according to family size. It also indicates the wealth and income levels of minorities in the loan-to-value ratios of conventional loans.
