Tinged shareholder theory: or what's so special about stakeholders?
Article Abstract:
The foundations of the stakeholder theory of the corporation are contrasted with those of the shareholder theory. Both theories are examined in terms of directors' fiduciary duties, relationships between stakeholders, and societal benefits. An alternative theory that supercedes the rival theories is suggested as a possible norm.
