Today's task for economists
Article Abstract:
Economists could play a role in achieving full employment on a permanent basis by 1995 or 1996. The steps in a full-employment policy would be to maintain the free-market system while controlling inflation and having the government recycle excess savings. Full employment would help to reduce social problems such as crime and poverty and help gain more support for measures such as free trade, environmental protection, liberalization of immigration and reductions in defense expenditures.
