Article Abstract:
The GATT's Uruguay Round agreements are deemed successful in terms of being able to ensure fair allocation of world resources, achieve political goals without sacrificing economic ends and strengthen institutions necessary for the enforcement of trade regulations. Nevertheless, more has to be done in the areas of trade in services, direct investment and agriculture. Likewise, new rules should be formulated for such issues as trade-related environmental matters.
