Microeconomics has rarely been applied to business practices due to a lack of proper presentation by the economists and reluctance of businesses to examine microeconomic strategies. Finance and other business fields that rely on consumer preference surveys to monitor their performance and products, can translate economic principles into practical applications.

The use of initial fees and royalties in business-format franchising
Article Abstract:
The structuring of franchising fee and functioning of the franchise chains are discussed. Franchise can be in the form of product or services licensing. The mode of payment is usually made in two parts, an initial lump sum is demanded and a fixed percentage of the monthly sales are paid as royalty to the franchisor. Channel control and agency considerations substantially influence the structuring of the payment
