Transformation of banks and bank services
Article Abstract:
Structural change in the economy and business is powered by changes in technology and this is especially true for financial markets and institutions. Bank strategies tend to become opportunistic at a time of rapid change, and banks use trial and error to select strategies. Changes lead to clashes with regulators, and some German and Swiss banks have relocated investment banking operations to the United Kingdom, where labor regulations are looser. Meanwhile, some Anglo-Saxon banks have undergone major mergers, and successful niche players have also emerged.

Financial institutions in transition: banks and financial markets
Article Abstract:
Financial institutions are undergoing change, and the impact of this on governance structures and financial services has to be assessed as well as the implications for regulation. A distinction between private and public ordering can help in analysing these changes. Products appear, and regulators adapt by reviewing regulations, and this in turn leads to the creation of new products. The development of an international regulatory framework merits further study, as well as assessments of existing frameworks.
