Gross domestic product growth in the US is likely to be around 4% for the whole of 1999, although this may fall to 2.5% in 2000. Article Abstract:
The US economy experienced a substantial revival in the third quarter of 1999, and growth for the whole of 1999 is likely to be very close to 4%. It is forecast that domestic demand will have risen by almost 4.5% in the third quarter of 1999. The unemployment rate has fallen to 4.2%, with wage rises having declined from the high levels achieved in mid-1998. It seems likely that the Federal Reserve will allow high growth to continue.
