Urban farmers maintain the turf, lawn & landscape industry
Article Abstract:
The landscape industry is a sector of the agricultural industry, but has important differences with mainstream agriculture. In landscaping, there is no harvest and typically involves the same crop year after year. Like agribusiness though, landscaping is also big business, especially the development and maintenance of golf courses. There are 16,800 golf courses in the US and that number is growing by 350 to 400 every year, said Pat Jones, publisher of 'Golfdom' magazine.
