What's different among banks?
Article Abstract:
The presence of monopoly power at the level of individual banks was established through utilization of an event study framework. Such power gives banks comparative edge over other financial institutions in processing information regarding the likelihood of default by borrowers. The approach also showed the need to supplement arguments illustrating interindustry monopoly power with those related to intraindustry monopoly power.
